Mamelodi Labour Centre temporarily closed due to COVID-19 case

Mamelodi Labour Centre situated at Mini Munitoria 17281 Makhubela street, Mamelodi West is closed today, 06 July, after a Client Service Officer (CSO) tested positive for Covid-19 virus. The building will be disinfected for the duration of the closure and officials especially those who came in contact will be subjected to the necessary Covid-19 related protocols.

According to Gauteng Chief Director: Provincial Operations, Tshepo Mokomatsidi, there are strict protocols in place and constant education, awareness, monitoring and evaluation taking place with officials. “Our office might be closed, but our service continues and work still goes on as we speak because some of our officials are working remotely from home. This goes to show how our team recognizes the seriousness of the situation our Centres finds itself in and their willingness to do their part and ensure that citizens are enabled to have access to essential services especially in this difficult time,” said Mokomatsidi.

Thobile Lamati, Director-General of the Department has previously stated that the safety of staff remain paramount. “Our officials are an important cog of the working of the South African economy and as such, we will also ensure that they are as safe as possible,” he said.

The Centre expects to reopen on Wednesday, 8 July  and will function under a skeletal staff as some employees will be in isolation.

We advise our clients to visit our nearby offices and also be mindful of the fact that they could be in long queues due to the pressure from other offices. We apologise for the inconvenience the closure might cause.

Clients are encouraged to use the Department’s online services found on www.labour.gov.za.
