MEC Gwen Ramokgopa launches Linear Accelerator machine at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, 31 Oct

Steve Biko Academic Hospital Cancer Unit to improve services with the launch of Linear Accelerator machine

Gauteng MEC for Health Dr Gwen Ramokgopa will on Wednesday, 31 October 2018, officially open the new bunker and commission the new Linear Accelerator machines that are used for treating cancer patients at Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Tshwane.

This will form part of the Cancer Awareness Day event at the facility which will include engagement with patients and visit to the nuclear medicine unit, and chemotherapy treatment area. 

The Steve Biko Academic Hospital Oncology Department offers a wide range of cancer treatment services. These includes the nuclear medicine diagnosis, staging and treatment of liver cancer therapy, prostate cancer treatment, malignant melanoma treatment and bone marrow transplantation for Leukaemia and Lymphoma patients to mention a few.
