Limpopo takes the Legislature to the people

The Speaker Limpopo Legislature Hon. Mavhungu Lerule Ramakhanya would like to invite members of the media to the first ever “Taking Legislature to the People” (TLP) which will be held in the Mopani District of Limpopo.  This service delivery driven public participation programme will be held at Maruleng Municipality’s Enable Hall from the 18th to 20th March.  TLP is being rolled out with the intention to enhance the level of implementation of Section 118 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.  It further seeks to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the previous sectoral Parliament resolutions, the directives set by the State of the Nation and the State of the Province Addresses.

This years’ Taking Legislature to the People will provide an opportunity for Legislature as representatives of the people, to listen to the people’s voices on issues raised and to ensure that their concerns are addressed by government.  The activities of TLP over the three days will include public hearings and oversight visits to various government projects/sites.  On Friday the 20th March, MECs are expected to respond to issues raised during public hearings, followed by an address by the Premier of Limpopo Province, Hon Chupu Stanley Mathabatha during an ordinary of the House at the venue.

The TLP programme will take place as follows:

Date: 18th March 2020
Time : 10h00
Venue: Enable Community Hall, Maruleng Local Municipality, Mopani District.
