KZN Finance MEC, Ravi Pillay, to celebrate Women’s Month by empowering women in Mtubatuba
Finance MEC Mr Ravi Pillay will, on Tuesday the 20th of August 2019, donate much-needed equipment to a co-operative run by women in Mtubatuba in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
MEC Pillay will hand over five domestic sewing machines and an overlocker machine to the Jaanitor Co-operative in Mtubatuba.
The co-operative is run by a group of women in the area and the MEC believes it has the potential to stimulate the local economy and to also create jobs.
MEC Pillay will also donate electric appliances, walking sticks and blankets to the elderly women in the area.
The MEC, who will be accompanied by the district and local mayors, will then visit a home of an elderly woman who is one of 175 local residents who benefited from a greenfield special project of 175 houses built in the area.
