Environmental Affairs invites members of the media to apply for accreditation to cover launch of Good Green Deeds Campaign

Government invites media to apply for accreditation to cover the Presidential launch of the Good Green Deeds Programme

Members of the media are invited to apply for accreditation to cover the launch of the Good Green Deeds Campaign: a ground-breaking initiative that seeks to mobilize all sectors of South Africa to become more environmentally conscious.

The national campaign will be officially launched by President Cyril Ramaphosa at the Sisa Dukashe stadium, Mdantsane, in East London on Friday 8 March 2019. Similar launch activities are planned for the different provinces.

The Constitution guarantees the right of all South Africans to an environment that is not harmful to their health and well-being. Littering, illegal dumping, pollution and other harmful activities have ill effects on the natural environment as well as the quality of life and health of communities.

The Good Green Deeds campaign is aimed at behavioural change and seeks to galvanize individuals, the private sector, labour, NGO’s, interfaith formations and society at large to clean South Africa. Focus will be on promoting sustainable waste management practices such as recycling.

The Department of Environmental Affairs working in collaboration with other government departments hopes that this campaign will be the largest and most impactful public environmental awareness campaign the country has seen.

Members of the media interested in covering the presidential launch of the programme are encouraged to apply for accreditation by completing the attached form and submit to the details below before end of business on 4 March 2019:
