Government activities for the week 29 April – 4 May 2019

  • The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Senzeni Zokwana and Limpopo MEC of Agriculture and Rural Development, Basikopo Makamu will on Monday 29 April 2019 visit areas affected by Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak in the Vhembe district in Limpopo. The aim of the visit is to assess progress made in the control of FMD. It will take place at Madzivhandila College of Agriculture, Thohoyandou at 09:00. 
  • On 29 April, Home Affairs Deputy Minister Fatima Chohan will officially open a newly modernized Home Affairs office in Postmasburg, Northern Cape, providing more channels for citizens to acquire identity documents and access other public services. The Deputy Minister will also participate in an imbizo with stakeholders as part of the Department’s ID Collection Campaign at Postmasburg Home Affairs Office, 20 Hoofstraat, Postmasburg at 11h00.
  • The Justice and Correctional Services Deputy Minister, Thabang Makwetla, will on Monday, 29 April 2019, hand over wheelchairs to people living with disabilities in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni. The handing over will benefit residents from Katlehong and Daveyton. It will take place at the DH William Hall, Katlehong at 09:00.
  • The Minister of Transport, Dr Bonginkosi Blade Nzimande, will be releasing the preliminary report on the 2019 Easter Road Safety Campaign on Thursday, 02 May 2019 at the Government Communication Information System, 1035 cnr of Frances Baard and Festival Street, Hatfield, Pretoria at 10:30.
  • The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation will brief media at the scheduled monthly media engagement. The briefing will cover the recent AU troika meeting on Libya and Sudan held in Egypt, the UNSC programme and other developments in SADC, Africa and the world. The briefing will take place at DIRCO OR Tambo building at 11:30.
  • The Minister of Energy, Jeff Radebe in partnership with the IEF will host the Fourth International Energy Forum Symposium, on energy poverty and joint oil data initiative energy data transparency workshop for a sustainable future, under the theme “Energy Data Transparency – a Key Enabler toward Sustainable Energy for All”. The event is scheduled to take place from the 30th April to 03 May 2019 at Cape Town International Convention Centre. Minister Radebe will also deliver the opening address at the Leadership for Energy Poverty Alleviation Symposium on the 2nd May 2019
