Gender Based Violence and Femicide Provincial Summit 30 September 2022
In an effort to fast-track the fight against Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) in the province, the Free State Provincial government will host a two day Gender based violence and Femicide summit on the 05-06 October 2022.
This provincial summit will feed into the Presidential Summit that will be held on the 1st and 2nd of November 2022, with the Theme: Accountability, Acceleration and Amplification Now.
The main objective of the provincial summit is to account on what has been done since the adoption of the Presidential Summit Declaration against GBVF of 2019 and the National Strategic Plan( NSP) on GBVF.
This will include, the progress that has been made; challenges that continue to persist; and deepening and widening a multi-sectoral space through which to develop innovative solutions; and identifying critical actions that need to be taken to change the status quo; and entrench mutual accountability.
Also, the provincial summit will therefore to make recommendations on the following areas:
- What needs to be accelerated; (ii) what needs to be amplified or scaled-up;
- How can accountability be strengthened;
- What needs to be done differently in acknowledging the different lived-realities and challenges.
