MEC Faith Mazibuko send condolences to the family of Dan Tshanda

Gauteng saddened by the passing of music icon Dan Tshanda

Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Ms Faith Mazibuko, has expressed her sadness upon the devastating news of the passing of yet another South Africa music icon, the legendary Dan Tshanda who passed on this passed weekend at the age of 54.

“A day just after celebrating the success of his first-born son, who had just passed his matric, Dan Tshanda passed on. What was meant to be a weekend of celebration became a weekend of sadness. It is of great pain and great loss to the family. We pray for the Almighty to give Dan’s family all the necessary strength to go through this difficult period.

“Our music industry has also a lost hero, a pioneer of hugely popular bubblegum genre of the 1980s, who rose to fame with his group Splash after releasing their 1986 classic album Peacock. My condolences to the Tshanda family, friends and the music family at large. He will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in peace and his legacy be an inspiration to the nation and bring comfort to the loved ones he left behind,” said MEC Mazibuko.
