Gauteng Road and Transport launches R511 arterial road project, 22 Oct

Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Dr Ismail Vadi, will on Monday, 22 October 2018, officially launch the Phase 2 of R511 (William Nicol Drive) road rehabilitation project in Tshwane.

The R150 million road project was fully-funded by the Department and will not be tolled.

The project comprised upgrading the road from gravel to a paved road linking Midrand in Johannesburg to Hartebeespoort Dam on the border with the North-West Province.

It serves as a collector and distributor for neighbouring rural areas and towns and is anticipated to reduce congestion.

Amongst the benefits to road users and adjacent communities are easier access to economic activities and markets; decreased transportation costs as well as facilitating development of tourism in surrounding areas.

Details of the launch are as follows:
Date: 22 October 2018
Time: 10h00
