Gauteng Department of Social Development to update GPL portfolio committee on progress in shift of early childhood development function
The Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Social Development will receive an update from the Gauteng Department of Social Development (GDSD) on progress made to-date in the migration of the early childhood development function to the (Gauteng) Department of Education. This arrangement was announced in 2019 by the President during the State of the Nation Address, and subsequently the Gauteng Premier in his State of the Province Address in the same year.
The Department will update the Committee on Friday, 12 November 2021 during a hybrid meeting, i.e., which will, in part, take place at the Johannesburg City Hall as well as streamed live on the Gauteng Legislature’s YouTube and Facebook pages from 10am.
Various stakeholders have been invited to the meeting as GDSD is also expected to present its annual report for the 2020/21 financial year.
