Premier Alan Winde to deliver his first State of the Province Address

On Thursday, Premier Alan Winde will be making his first State of the Province Address in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.

The focus of the speech will be on empowering the people of the Western Cape, and to tie in with this, Premier Winde will walk down St George’s Mall and meet residents of the province before making his address.

The Western Cape Provincial Parliament has outlined the rules and process for media accreditation and media have been requested to RSVP before 12:00 on Wednesday 17 July.  The details as provided by the WCPP are provided below.

Time: 10:00 Premier Winde will start his walk from the Strand Street side of Saint George’s Mall (near the Cape Sun hotel)
           10:30 He will arrive at the Wale Street Entrance to the Provincial Parliament Building.
           11:00 The sitting will start.

Important information for media outlets wishing to cover the sitting:

Members of the media wishing to cover the event must contact Achmat Patience (021 487 1642 or apatience@wcpp.gov.za) before 12:00 on Wednesday, 17 July, for accreditation. Please provide the following: information: title, first name, surname, company/media house, cellphone number and email address.

Members of the media who have received accreditation must report to the media registration desk at the 15 Wale Street reception (entrance off the concourse from Wale Street) between 08:00 and 10:30 on Thursday, 18 July at which point they will be issued with a media tag and assisted to gain entry to the building. All media representatives must bring an ID book/card or driving licence in order to gain entry to the building.

A number of three-pin male audio connections will be available in the Press Gallery and a further two will be available at the entrance to the Chamber for television cameras. Three-pin female connections will therefore be required to connect recording devices to the audio feed. Please ensure that you have the necessary leads.

Three SDI (HD) and one SD (analogue) feed can be accommodated if television stations would like to pick up the live feed of the Sitting from the control room. Only cameras with SDI ports will be able to connect and crews are required to bring their own cables and converters.

Photographers will be allowed to shoot from the Press Gallery and at the entrance to the Chamber behind the blue rope. An official will be available to assist photographers in this area.  No flash photography at all from any locaton.

Photographers whose equipment has been cleared by security, may also cover the arrival of the Premier in the concourse, 7 Wale Street entrance.

Refreshments for the media will be provided in the Tafelberg on the 7th Floor after the adjournment of the House.
