Employment and Labour Minister, TW. Nxesi to deliver keynote note address at the Durban University of Technology World of Work dinner
Employment and Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi will be delivering a keynote address at the Durban University of Technology gala dinner tomorrow evening (14 August 2019), where he will be tackling issues of the World of Work today.
The dinner will also be addressed by the Vice-Chancellor & Principal, Professor T. Mthembu and a presentation on “disrupting the future” will be delivered by Chee Wai Mak of Western Digital, Thailand.
The Department will be on the university premises during the day to offer students the Public Employment Services which include amongst others, registration on the Employment System South Africa (ESSA) for students seeking employment.
Employment and Labour career counsellors, principal psychologists and career guidance counsellors will also be stationed at the exhibition stands to effectively assist students with career prospects; equip them with necessary empowerment and training in order for them to be successfully placed in the job market.
The dinner is expected to start at 18:45 and will be held at the university Hall 2 Durban Exhibition Centre.
As part of his 3 day stay in KZN, the Minister and his deputy Boitumelo Moloi will also embark on a visit to the departments’ Labour Centres on Thursday (15 August 2019), where they will be interacting with the staff and addressing service delivery issues and challenges faced by the centres.
On Friday (16 August 2019) the Minister is set to meet with workers, employers and labour organisations in the trucking industry in his quest to mitigate the ongoing problems in the industry.
The meeting will be held at Durban Royal Hotel and will start from 9h00 - 13h00.
