Electoral Commission briefs media on process to review whether a free and fair election is possible this year, 20 May

The Electoral Commission will tomorrow (Thursday 20 May 2021) make an important announcement on a process to review whether the current conditions are conducive or not to the holding of free and fair elections later this year.

This is the first time such a process in terms of Section 14(4) of the Electoral Commission Act (51 of 1996) has been invoked in the history of South Africa’s democracy.
