Water and Sanitation hosts workshops with construction companies on Lesotho Highlands Water Project Phase 2, 5 to 6 Nov

Construction companies to be briefed in Gauteng in November on Lesotho Highlands Water Project Phase 2

The Department of Water and Sanitation would like to advise that the Gauteng leg of workshops by Lesotho Highlands Development Authority will be held on 5 and 6 of November 2018 not October as initially stated.

Workshops in Gauteng will be held with registered construction companies to explain the Procurement Framework of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project Phase Two and share lessons learned from the previous tender submissions.

Early this week, the Lesotho Highlands Development Agency held similar workshops in the Free State.

These workshops are also aimed at improving compliance and participation in the Lesotho Highlands Water Project’s works.   Phase Two will increase the current supply rate of 780-million cubic metres a year incrementally to more than 1.26-billion cubic metres a year.

Phase Two of the LHWP will be implemented in terms of two distinct components: a water delivery system to augment the delivery of water to South Africa and a hydropower generation system, which will increase the current electricity generation capacity in Lesotho.

The Gauteng workshops will be held as follows:
Date: 5th November 2018
Time:  08h30 to 12h30
Venue: Senate Hall, UNISA Main Campus, Pretoria

Date:  6th November 2018
Time: 08h30 to 12h30
Venue: Duncan Hall, Gauteng Legislature, Johannesburg
