DWS to host South African Youth Water Prize competition in the North West

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) will host the Provincial South African Youth Water Prize (SAYWP) competition in Mahikeng on Monday, 13 May 2019. The SAYWP is one of the projects that the DWS is implementing in its education programme called 2020 Vision for Water Education Programme (2020 VWEP).

This project is aimed at educating Grade 9-11 learners about efficient use of water and protection of water sources.

Winners of the Provincial competition will proceed to compete with their counterparts nationally. The winners of the national competition will have an opportunity to compete internationally at the Stockholm Junior Water Prize in Sweden where they will test their abilities against winners from 35 countries.
