Free State Social Development hosts District Disability Dialogues, 15 to 27 Nov

Disability Rights Awareness Month Dialogues 2018

The United Nations General Assembly appealed to Member States in 1992 to commemorate December 3 annually as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) to promote awareness and mobilize support for critical issues relating to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society and development. The Day works to promote action to raise awareness about disability issues and draw attention to the benefits of an inclusive and accessible society for all.

Disability Rights Awareness Month is observed nationally from 3 November to 3 December annually. The Free State Department of Social Development, together with the Office of the Premier will host District Disability Dialogues from the 15th to the 27th of November 2018. The dialogues will focus on the White Paper on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and identifying mechanisms that will accelerate implementation thereof and the Free State Implementation Matrix.
