Deputy Minister Mashego – Dlamini will embark on visit in Gauteng to strengthen relations with district and local municipalities

The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Mrs Candith Mashego-Dlamini will on 22 September 2017, accompanied by Senior Management of the department, embark on a visit to the Gauteng Province to engage with District and Local municipalities on the implementation of Rural Development and Land Reform Programmes.

The engagement will be focusing on strengthening the inter-governmental relations among the three spheres of government following the appointment of district and local municipality mayors as the political champions of departmental programmes that are aimed at improving the lives of the rural people.

The engagements are part of nationwide consultations undertaken by DRDLR with District and Local Municipality on key interventions to improve service delivery linked to the implementation of rural development and poverty alleviation initiatives.   

Deputy Minister Mashego- Dlamini, will among others address stakeholders on progress of the Agri-park programme which is being rolled out across the country.  

In addition to this, the Deputy Minster will lead discussion on the implementation of the One Household One Hectare programme (1HH1H). The programme seeks to eradicate poverty and increase the pool of black smallholder farmers. The programme is one of a number of initiatives, projects and programmes of the Department to uplift rural communities and turn rural areas into vibrant and sustainable places conducive for growth and prosperity for inhabitants.

Other issues to be discussed include:

  • The revised CRDP Management System
  • 1 Rural Ward 1 Integrated Development Centre
  • Land Rights Management Committees
