Deputy Minister Makhotso Sotyu leads Gugulethu Ministerial Outreach Programme, 23 Aug

Deputy Minister Makhotso Sotyu to lead Gugulethu Ministerial Outreach Programme

The Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF), Ms Makhotso Sotyu, will be distributing 300 blankets to elderly residents of iKhaya Loxolo Old Age Home in Gugulethu on the 23rd August 2019, under the Nelson Mandela Month celebration.

This event is also a follow up activity to the Good Green Deeds programme which took place earlier this year on the 15th of March 2019.

The Nelson Mandela Month celebration gives all people in South Africa and all over the world an opportunity to perform a selfless act for others in need, for only 67 minutes in recognition of the 67 years that Madiba spent fighting against apartheid. Every year the government of South Africa calls on all sectors of society to come together and work for a better South Africa, and DEFF heeded the call by assisting the elderly residents of iKhaya Loxolo with blankets to keep warm.

As part of the hand-over event, Deputy Minister Sotyu will also be rehabilitating the old age home’s vegetable garden and will also share a meal with the residents of iKhaya Loxolo.
