Deputy Minister Magie Sotyu to lead the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence event in Warrenton, Magareng Local Municipality on Friday, 09 December 2022

The Deputy Minister of the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms M Sotyu; Deputy, MEC of Environment and Nature Conservation, Cllr Mase Manopole; Executive Mayor of Frances Baard District Municipality, Cllr Unondumiso Buda and the Mayor of Magareng Local Municipality, Cllr Neo Mase will lead a 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence event on Friday, 09 December 2022, in Warrenton, Magareng Local Municipality, Northern Cape.

The theme for the 16 Days of Activism Campaign 2022 is: “Socio-Economic Rights and Empowerment to build Women’s Resilience against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide: Connect, Collaborate, Contract.” The theme seeks to expose society’s unequal ownership of the economy, increasing women’s susceptibility to abuse.

To mark the 16 Days of Activisms 2022 campaign, the Deputy Ministers; MEC and Mayors will embark on community greening, clean-up, invasive alien plant clearing and service delivery blitz programme in and around Warrenton.
