Labour hosts Employer Campaign in Bethlehem, 19 Oct

Department of Labour to engage employers during its local employer campaign

The Department of Labour in the Free State province will be hosting an Employer Campaign in Bethlehem, Free State. This campaign will be held on the 19th of October 2018 at Bethlehem town hall from 09:00 to 12:00 in the afternoon.

Employer campaigns are used and seen as one of many suitable platforms for the Department to solicit the views of its strategic stakeholders on how the Department can better serve them.  This is a proactive measure through which employers will be taken through their responsibilities insofar as labour laws are concerned.  It is envisaged that initiatives of this nature will culminate in the improved delivery of services by the Department.

To that effect, different branches of the Department will present their respective service offerings to attendees. Flowing from that, the Public Employment Services unit will make a presentation speaking to the Employment Services Act and the Employment System of South Africa (ESSA), which is used to recruit potential employees for employers.  ESSA is therefore an automated matching platform where work-seekers are matched with available job opportunities.

The Inspection and Enforcement Services will provide information to attendees on all the labour legislations and responsibilities assigned to employers. While the Unemployment Insurance Fund will share crucial information relating to the Unemployment Insurance Act and Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act together with step by step processes on how to declare your employees on the UIF’s new system called U-Filing.

Compensation Fund will also present their services to employers, critical information regarding Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, employer’s responsibilities thereto, how to report an incident, and how to make optimum use of the CF’s new online system called CF-Filing.
