Department’s Inspectorate to host compliance seminars on minimum wage
As part of advocacy initiatives the Department of Employment and Labour’s Inspection and Enforcement Services (IES) branch will next week host two seminars on compliance with the National Minimum Wage (NMW).
The two seminars will be held in Mthatha and Komani (Queenstown). The theme of the seminars is: “Paying the National Minimum Wage is the Right Thing to Do”. Annually the department hosts these seminars as part of the IES branch drive to educate stakeholders on labour laws.
The Hospitality Sector is one of the sectors classified as high risk when it comes to compliance with labour laws.
The latest seminars follow one held in August 2021 in the Western Cape. The seminars are targeting: employers, employees, employer organisations, trade unions, bargaining councils, restaurants, hotels, and tourism sector among others.
