Minister Ronald Lamola calls for a conclusive report on court safety

On Thursday 6 June 2019 Minister, Ronald Lamola visited the Johannesburg Magistrate Court after an alleged gang violence incident on Wednesday 5 June 2019. 

The Minister and relevant officials conducted an inspection in loco. 

"This security breach violates the core of Court administration system. We expect the courts to be the custodians of justice and a safe place for our citizens. This breach of security warrants a conclusive assessment of the security measures in all our courts, our courts are not war zones and weapons have no place here, to this end our courts must be declared gun free zones", said Minister Ronald Lamola. 

The Minister thanked the police for their swift action to avert any harm to citizens in the court and requested the department to provide him with a conclusive report on the safety of our courts across the country.
