Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs department will hold substance abuse and gender base violence for traditional councils

The department will be hosting a three-day workshop on gender base violence for traditional councils in order to raise awareness and facilitate a conversation between men and women who may have directly or indirectly been affected by substance abuse or gender base violence. 

Also to empower traditional communities and afford them a platform to exchange of ideas on the two issues as well as to create a network amongst the traditional communities in order to discuss ways and means of supporting each other.

To affirm the traditional communities of their constitutional rights as well as raise awareness of legislative bills and Acts such as Customary marriage Bill, Domestic Violence Act, Sexual Offences Bill etc. that have been put in place to address these challenges. To review and discuss the draft customary marriage bill and its implication for women in rural areas
