North West Legislature conducts public hearings on Division of Revenue Bill 2019, 19 Mar

On Tuesday, 19 March 2019, the Portfolio Committee on Premier, Finance, Economy and Enterprise Development will be conducting public hearings on Division of Revenue Bill 2019 at Dinokana Tribal Hall in Ngaka Modiri Molema district, Jouberton Community Hall in Dr. Kenneth Kaunda district, Morokweng Community Hall in Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District and Jericho Multipurpose Hall in Bojanala District. All public hearings commence at 10h00.

The bill aims to provide for the equitable division of revenue raised nationally among the national, provincial and local spheres of government for the 2019/20 financial year, the determination of each province’s equitable share and allocations to provinces, local government and municipalities from national government’s equitable share and the responsibilities of all three spheres pursuant to such division and allocations; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Part of the Legislature’s mandate is to promote public participation & oversight, therefore the Bill intends to hear the voice of the community with regards to how funds should be allocated into various Government structures.  The money appropriated by the Legislature to the government departments should be spent in terms of the Public Finance Management Act No 1 of 1999.

Members of the media are invited to attend the public hearings.
