Compensation Fund Commissioner’s breakfast moves to Mpumalanga

The hectic interaction of the Compensation Fund’s  (CF) Commissioner Vuyo Mafata’s , breakfast sessions with stakeholders will see him stopping in Nelspruit as he briefs them about the latest moves to provide efficient, quality and accessible Compensation for Injuries and Diseases (COID) services to clients.

This comes hot on the heels of a similar briefing in Vereeniging, in the Vaal Triangle, Gauteng and previous sessions in several parts of the country.

Organisers said the strategy of the Fund comprises two priorities for its sustainability, namely:

  • Providing faster reliable and accessible COID services by 2020, and
  • Providing an effective and efficient client-oriented support services.

Hloni Mpaka: director of communication at the Fund, said, flagship projects were

  • Integrated Online Platform for Employer Registration and compliance management
  • Online Claims Management System
  • Hospital Care Management Program
  • Disability Care Management
  • Review of medical services function in the Fund
  • Chronic Medication Dispensing

She said the aim of the above projects is to create effective and client oriented support services by

  • Improving capacity through Human Resource Development
  • Increasing in asset base of the Fund through investments
  • Contributing to employment creation through investments and training programmes

The Commissioner and his team of experts will also brief stakeholders about the ICT journey to improve claim payments and eliminate the high dependency on manual process.

The latter, Mpaka said, contributes to inefficiencies that exposed the Fund to fraud and huge backlogs.

Mpaka said, the briefing would also focus on changes to the Policy and Legislative environment.

They will include amendments to the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act
