COGTA Minister convenes stakeholders meeting to discuss deaths of initiates
The Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Zweli Mkhize will tomorrow on Monday, 14 January 2019 convene a consultative meeting with traditional leaders in a bid to stem the deaths of initiates during customary initiation.
This meeting is a sequel to the December 27th gathering in which Minister Mkhize met with the leadership of the National House of Traditional Leaders and the Eastern Cape House of Traditional Leaders.
The December gathering was called in response to the high number of initiate deaths, especially in the Eastern Cape province. The details are as follows:
