Capitec donates food parcels to mod coaches and learners across the province
Minister Anroux Marais accepted Capitec's generous donation of food parcels to our MOD and Neighbouring Schools Programme coaches and learners at Ned Doman High School in Athlone to be distributed across the province.
As many sectors and livelihoods have been adversely affected by the coronavirus and subsequent national lockdown, many arts and culture coaches and learners are experiencing additional challenges and hardships.
At the handover ceremony, Minister Marais said, “Not only is there a lack of food in many households, but added feelings of anxiety also now exists. The online lessons and digital communications innovatively developed by the MOD programme serve to alleviate and address uncertainties and challenges by creating an enabling environment in which artistic and cultural expression can flourish amongst our young minds during these unprecedented times. As there have been increasing appeals for donations of food and data, we wholeheartedly thank Capitec for bridging one of the many gaps with their generosity towards our frontline heroes, in assisting with the provision of food parcels to those in need”.
We express our gratitude to our coaches for their unwavering dedication to facilitating empowering programmes for our learners under immense pressure during this time. Our learners should also be commended for making the conscious decision, against all odds, to engage these positive programmes run by our Department, so to be better versions of themselves to further uplift the communities they call home.
