MEC Albert Fritz hosts leadership training day in Western Cape

MEC Fritz upskills Cape Flats youth

As a part of the Cape Youth @Work programme, the Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Albert Fritz, hosted a leadership training day for nearly 100 youths predominantly from Mitchells Plain, selected as interns for the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). Please find photos attached.

The training day motivated and inspired the new interns through lectures and workshops hosted by Minister Albert Fritz, wellness expert Helen Cyster, Mitchells Plain poet Chelsea Goliath, and Ellen Pakkies actress Jill Levenberg. The day was hosted at the Seven Sister’s vineyard, established by self-made entrepreneur and CEO Vivian Kleynhans.

MEC Fritz said, “It is essential that as governments, corporates and greater civil society, that we work Better Together, pooling our expertise, to upskill our youth and increase their opportunities in life. For this reason, the Western Cape Government is driving similar initiatives to upskill our young people, including youth cafés; Mass participation, Opportunity and access; Development and growth (MOD) Centres, Early Childhood Development Centres, and after-school game changers.”

Under the leadership of MEC Albert Fritz, the Western Cape Department of Social Development remains committed to providing opportunities to young people.
