Premier Zille to launch disability pilot project in Emfuleni and draw HIV testing campaign lottery prize winners

On Monday 8 April, Premier Helen Zille will participate in two events:

1) Emfuleni disability pilot project launch

Premier Zille will launch the Premier’s Priority Project on Disability in Emfuleni, which is being implemented in a partnership between the Western Cape Government and the Uhambo Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that works to provide support services to, and the promotes the rights of, people living with disabilities. The month-long pilot project will be a comprehensive community survey of households as well as an information and awareness-raising campaign that aims to identify children and youth living with disabilities and to link them to a referral system where they and their families can access service providers to support their needs.

2) HIV testing campaign lottery prize draw

Following the Emfuleni disability project launch, Premier Zille will draw the names of five prize winners who participated in an HIV testing campaign lottery that ran during February 2013 in selected areas in all districts of the Western Cape. This was the second lottery-linked HIV testing campaign run by the Western Cape Government following that of the 16 Days of Activism in November/December 2011. Five prize winners will be drawn from all regions of the province, who will each receive R10 000.
