MEC Keneetswe Mosenogi outlines mandate for North West Economic Development, Environment and Tourism department

New Dawn for the reconfigured Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism

The MEC for the newly reconfigured Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism Keneetswe Mosenogi outlined a new mandate for her Department. Mosenogi’s focus is on the Economic Growth, Service Delivery and Development in the Environment and Tourism sectors.

MEC Mosenogi outlined marching orders to Senior Management of the newly reconfigured department.   “As a new Department we have to ensure that our functions are aligned and geared towards growth and developments that will benefit the people of the North West. I am sure that you are a capable team that will execute your mandate with diligence with the acumen you possess. I urge you to double your efforts and bring in renewed innovation when planning ways in which you will be delivering services to our people. I bring in energy and knowledge that I have acquired in my leadership role in my political career”, said MEC Mosenogi.

She said that the sixth administration will further outline its mandate and her department will follow the band wagon. “Public Service has an obligation to provide services required by the masses and therefore I urged you to work tirelessly, hard and in uniformity to ensure that the department reaches its set targets and ultimately delivers on its core business and constitutional mandate.

It is indeed our responsibility to change the landscape of this Province and I therefore urge you to perform your duties to the best of your abilities by amongst others, talking to the people of this province on opportunities available and empowerment programmes in their exposure”, she said.

The MEC called on managers to start the new journey with her and further reminded them, that the new venture will be faced with challenges which must be tackled as a team.

“I also hope that as we will be working together with other entities our main focus will be to separate roles and responsibilities that will assist us working seamlessly and focusing on things that matters, you will also be able to advise me with matters regarding your areas of speciality as I am also willing to listen and learn from you”, she added.

MEC Mosenogi, grew through the ranks of the African National Congress Youth League structures until she was elected as the National Deputy Secretary General of the league in 2011. From there her ability, dedication and the diligence she displayed when executing her duties allowed her to serve in several boards including that of North West Development Corporation where she served as the Deputy Chairperson.

She served as a Member of Mayoral Council responsible for Economic Development and Tourism. Mosenogi also served as member of the Provincial Executive since 2011. Her participation in several community projects proved her ability in leadership and her love for community development among locals.

MEC Mosenogi obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, adding to other qualifications she obtained in her educational journey. She has now been entrusted to lead the development of the provincial Economy, Environment and Tourism.
