Invitation to the Review of the Land Expropriation Bill and Constitutional Amendment of Section 25

On the 17th of February 2020, the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) will be engaging in a public participation process on the Review of the Land expropriation Bill and Constitutional Amendment of Section 25 at Homu 14B, outside Giyani in Limpopo Province.

This is in part to get the voices of women, who are often left behind on issues that have implications for women empowernment and their well-being. The CGE in order to make its submission to the Review of the Land Expropriation Bill and Constitutional Amendment Act will be engaging with the community of Homu 14B in line with the work the Commission has done in the surrounding areas.

The Commission through this public participation want to ensure that women empowernment remains central when the Expropriation Bill and Constitutional Amendment of Section 25 are considered.   The public participation on the Review of the Land Expropriation Bill and Constitutional Amendment of Section 25 will also assist the CGE to identify intervention programmes and strategies that will assist women in the area, going forward in addressing the land issues.

It is therefore, for these reasons that the CGE invites you members of the media to join the Commission when it takes its work to the ordinary and rural citizens on the ground.
