National Water Week

It is that time of the year again where the Department of Water Affairs will be celebrating the 2013 National Water Week (NWW). The NWW will be celebrated from 18–24 March 2013 under the theme: “Water is Life: Conserve it, Respect it, Enjoy it.”

The campaign coincides with the World Water Day which will be celebrated on 22 March with a Ministerial event at Tshikundamalema Sports Ground under Mutale Local Municipality – Vhembe District Municipality. The United Nations has themed this year the “International Year of Water Cooperation.” Minister Edna Molewa and SADC Ministers of water are expected to officiate at the event.

During the event, the Tshikundamalema community water supply infrastructure project located in Mutale Municipality will be launched by the Minister. The purpose of this project is to demonstrate the benefits of Integrated Water Resource Management to promote peace and security reduce poverty and improve climate resilience. The project will act as a catalyst for replication and scaling- up approaches to improve water resources development and management at national and river basin levels.
