Women's summit and official opening ceremony of the 16 Days of
Activism against Women and Children

The Deputy Minister of Provincial and Local Government and convener of the
16 Days of Activism campaign, Ms Nomatyala Hangana, will hold a 16 Days
Campaign Summit in Polokwane, The Ranch Protea Hotel on 24 November 2006
8h00.

The purpose of the summit is to take stock of the campaign over the past 16
years in South Africa.

Some of the presenters at the summit are Minister of Justice and
Constitutional Development, Ms Bridgette Mabandla, and Minister of Public
Service and Administration, Ms Geraldine Fraser Moleketi.

The National House of Traditional Leaders will also make a presentation on
the role of traditional leaders in curbing gender-based violence.

The opening of the 16 Days of Activism will take place on 25 November 2006,
at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, in Polokwane 9h00. This event will mark the
beginning of the 16 Days of Activism for no Violence against Women and
Children.

The Premier of Limpopo, Mr Sello Moloto, will give a welcome address at the
opening ceremony.
