Minister of Transport to officially launch 2013 Easter Road Safety Campaign

Transport Minister, Honourable Dikobe Ben Martins will officially launch the 2013 Easter Road Safety campaign on Sunday, 10 March 2013 in Polokwane. The Minister will be joined by the Deputy Minister of Transport Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga, MEC for Roads and Transport in Limpopo Mr Pitsi Moloto, the Executive Mayor of Polokwane Local Municipaility, His Exellency Freddy Greaver, senior national and provincial transport and government officials and members of the community.

In the continued effort to spread the message of road safety and in line with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 , the Minister and his entourage will interact with motorists, passengers and pedestrians during the launch.

The Minister will emphasise and call upon all road users, public transport operators (short and long distance), private motorists, passengers and pedestrians to take personal responsibility for their safety on the roads as they will be travelling to various destinations during the Easter holidays.

As part of the official launch, the Minister will also outline the national road safety plans for the Easter season to reduce the carnage on the roads.
