Minister Nathi Mthethwa to participate in public engagement programmes

The Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa will participate in a series of public engagement programmes around KwaZulu-Natal in the next two days.

He will utilise these events to, amongst others outline and share the ministry's recent crime statistics with the locals. The minister will further make a call for continued partnerships between communities, interfaith organizations, youth formations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), business as well as political organisations to support government in fighting crime.

Event: Court appearance of Thozamile Taki, commonly known as Shayamoya serial killer. Taki stands accused of killing various women around the Shayamoya area; where he lured his victims after promising them jobs.

Event: Handing over of a house to a local family at Mbotsha. This is an initiative by various stakeholders who identified this family whose shack was destroyed by rains, resulting in the children losing their parents during this sad ordeal. Through the support of local business, political parties, NGOs, etc a house was built and will therefore be handed over to the family.

Event: There will be a sectoral forum involving various sectors; that is, political parties, business, interfaith organisations, youth to discuss various socio-economic factors such as safety and security, education, health, economic development, etc.
