Members of the Investigation Panel into Fuel Supply Shortages
in South Africa announced

13 March 2006

Advocate Marumo Moerane (SC), the Chairperson of the Commission of Inquiry
into the Fuel Crisis that occurred in South Africa November/December 2005,
today announced members of the investigation panel that he will head.

The 11-member panel will assume work immediately and will report their
findings to the Minister of Minerals and Energy within 90 days.

The panel will establish the causes of the fuel supply shortages, formulate
and present recommendations to the Minister, which will enable the government
and other stakeholders to take appropriate steps to prevent a recurrence of the
fuel crisis.

“Members of the panel were selected carefully based on their level of
competence, track record, coupled with their expertise,” said Advocate
Moerane.

The Commission of Inquiry will be conducted in phases in order to afford all
parties concerned the opportunity to state their case, thus enabling it to
arrive at well informed conclusions and recommendations.
