GPDID to outline plans to deal with illegal and rent-free occupation of state property

The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development will tomorrow, Thursday 4 April 2013 host a media briefing to outline plans to deal decisively with the illegal, irregular and rent-free occupation of state residential and commercial properties.

The briefing follows MEC Qedani Mahlangu’s announcement last month of a grace period of 2 months for occupants currently not paying market related rentals to come forth and regularise their occupancy status.

The media briefing will among other issues give details of groups to be prioritised in the first phase of the concerted drive to collect market related rentals, which is revenue rightfully due to the Gauteng fiscus.

Details of the media briefing are as follows:
Date: 4 April 2013
Time: 10h30 am
Venue: Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development, 6th floor boardroom- The Corner house, Corner Commissioner and Sauer Streets, Marshalltown – JHB
