Gauteng Premier Shilowa to address public service senior
managers

13 March 2006

Gauteng Premier, Mr Mbhazima Shilowa, will deliver a keynote address at the
fourth Annual Senior Management Service (SMS) Conference, which will be held on
16 and 17 March 2006.

The conference will be held at the Bryanston Club and will take place under
the theme of “Building the Capacity and Organisation of the State: Gauteng
accelerating delivery towards Vision 2014”.

The objective of the 2006 SMS conference is to discuss and create a common
understanding among senior managers of how to implement government’s programme
of action through innovation in service delivery. This follows on a provincial
government study that focuses on building the capacity and organisation of the
state, in order to halve poverty and unemployment by 2014. As such, it forms a
key part of the Gauteng provincial government’s ongoing efforts to build a
skilled, revitalised and productive public service in Gauteng.

A variety of speakers including academics and professionals will speak at
the conference.
