Will I need new equipment to receive digital broadcasts?

You will need a digital Set Top Box (STB). The STB is not the same as existing TV equipment and is a completely new device that has not been available previously. It plugs directly into your existing TV and enables it to receive the new digital transmission.

If you have an integrated digital television (IDTV set) which has a built-in digital tuner, you will not need a set-top box (STB) to receive digital signals. DStv and TopTV are already in digital format so subscribers will not need an STB.

As digital signals are broadcast using the existing terrestrial broadcasting network, a satellite dish is not necessary to receive the signals. It is also unlikely that you will need a new aerial.
