Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa today, Friday 31 October 2014 concluded his four-legged visit to African countries in his capacity as Special Envoy to help bring about peace and stability in South Sudan.
During this period, Deputy President Ramaphosa visited South Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania where he held discussions with President Salva Kirr, Vice President Riek Machar, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, President Yoweri Museveni and President Jikaya Kikwete.
The visit was in pursuit of helping to bring about peace and stability in South Sudan and thus necessitated the need to consult with all role-players involved in the peace process in the country including IGAD, African Union and leaders of South Sudan.
In Tanzania, Deputy President Ramaphosa paid a courtesy call on President Jakaya Kikwete to discuss strategic bilateral political and economic relations between South Africa and Tanzania.
Deputy President Ramaphosa returns to South Africa today, Friday 31 October ahead of his visit to Paarl, Western Cape on Saturday 01 November 2014 where he is expected to interact with farming communities as part of a process of addressing working conditions and the recent evictions of farmworkers in the area.
