The day for all candidates planning to write the Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examinations

Thursday, 15 March 2012 is the day for all candidates to register to write the Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examinations which start in October.

Full-time learners currently in Grade 12, receiving tuition in either a public or private school, part-time learners who do not attend school full-time, and repeat candidates i.e. those who failed their NSC previously and would like to repeat either the failed subjects or the entire grade are urged to register before the deadline.

To qualify for registration, learners must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Must write the South African curriculum (NCS)
  • Must have proof that they have completed and passed Grade 10 and 11
  • Must have completed school-based assessment requirements for Grade 10 and 11.

All candidates must fill a registration form designed and issued by the Department of Basic Education in consultation with the Provincial assessment body. The registration forms will be processed and submitted to the examination centre for checking and verification before the start of the final NSC examination.

Part-time candidates can register at the school where they are attending lessons, or may contact the District Office where they will be referred to an approved examination centre to register. Part time and repeat candidates are required to produce a valid green bar-coded ID book and their results from Grade 10 and 11. In the case of repeat candidates, proof that they have previously written the NSC will also be required.

Please note that no late registrations will be accepted, unless based on exceptional circumstances.
