On 20 March 2013, the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) will be presenting its quarterly reports before the Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth and People with Disabilities.
The presentation before the Portfolio Committee will highlight CGE’s strategic objectives as informed by the Annual Performance Plan (APP) during the period under review. Amongst other things that would be shared with the Portfolio Committee is the 365 Days Report, Policy Briefings on: Land Study, Widowhood, Private Sector, Water Study and the Education Report. The Commission will also impress upon the Portfolio Committee on the progress made thus far in our Employment Equity Investigative Public Hearings and observation thereof.
The CGE will also highlight some of the interesting activities that are geared to capacitate staff in dealing with International Instruments. We will also be sharing with the Portfolio Committee our intervention in the Traditional Courts Bill and inputs into the Women Empowerment and Gender Equality Bill (WEGE Bill). This would be also an opportune moment to share with the Committee Members the work and progress being done through our nine provincial offices that is geared in achieving our mandate.
