North West Department of Health MEC, Madoda Sambatha will lead a team of health promoters and community health workers to raise awareness about Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), condom use, pregnancy and healthy lifestyle on Friday, 22 February at Taung Depot Hall, Taung. Proceedings are scheduled to start at 7h30 with 3 kilometer walk followed by aerobics and awareness campaign.
The awareness campaign is aimed at decreasing the number of new STI and HIV infections, advocate for delayed sexual debut and to help prevent unwanted pregnancy amongst the general population.
Health promoters together with community health workers embarked on a door to door campaign and reproductive health education talks in public areas like taxi ranks and malls from Monday across the province to increase awareness.
