Northern Cape Transport holds Road Safety Awareness campaign at Kalahari Lodge Crossing, 19 Dec

The Head of Department at the Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison, Mr Steven Jonkers has cautioned all road users in the Province not to take chances on the roads but to be responsible on the roads at all times.

Jonkers said it was important that all roads users keep safe on the roads and enjoyed their festive season safely in the Province as it is the desire for the rest of the country.

“We have been long ready for the festive season and our readiness has been evident through all the intensified operations preparing for the festive season since November,” said Jonkers.

He also added that operations will also zoom into areas where festivities will be taking place.

“We will patrol and have operations across the Province and we will curb any recklessness on the roads.”

He said, “…we must say we appreciate the work and effort our traffics are putting into the festive season. We know it’s a time many spend with families and enjoy time at home but instead they are working to make the roads safe for all road users.”

Jonkers called on the community to continue to work with the law enforcement fraternities to ensure a safe and enjoyable festive season for all.
