President Jacob Zuma leads June Youth Month celebrations

President Jacob Zuma will lead South Africa's celebrations of the Youth Month of June under the theme "Youth Moving South Africa Forward”.

Today, 09 June 2015, the President hosts the inaugural meeting of the Presidential Youth Working Group meeting, which aims to discuss the National Youth Policy and various issues related to the socio-economic development and empowerment of the youth in the country, at the Sefako M Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.

This first Presidential Youth Working Group meeting will bring together government and youth formations to enable the youth to play a part in shaping policy and governance at the highest level. The youth delegates represent various sectors including professional associations, agriculture, business, education and skills development, religious sector and organisations working in the realm of social development.

President Zuma will also lead South Africa's celebration of the annual National Youth Day on Tuesday, the 16th of June at the Tshwane Events Centre in Pretoria.nOn the same day, 16 June, the President will also officially launch the Mara Mentor, online youth mentorship programme; a partnership between the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and the Mara Foundation.

Throughout the Youth Month of June, Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers will embark on Youth Outreach Programmes across South Africa.
