President Jacob Zuma officially opens new school in Mvezo, 25 Aug

President Jacob Zuma will on Tuesday, 25 August 2015, officially open a newly upgraded state of the art school in Mvezo, in the Eastern Cape.

The Makgatho Lewanika Mandela Primary School was formed as a result of a merger between Nkwenkwezi Primary School and Mvezo Primary School.

To date, the school, which is located at the late former President Nelson Mandela’s birthplace in Mvezo in the Eastern Cape, has an enrolment of 403 learners with a newly built computer centre, library, a science laboratory, new administration block and a nutrition kitchen.

The school bears the name of three outstanding leaders in the struggle for liberation – Mr Sefako Makgatho, King Lubosi Lewanika and President Mandela.

Mr Sefako Makgatho is the second President of the ANC and King Lubosi Lewanika of Barotseland in Zambia attended the first ever ANC National Conference in 1912 in Mangaung as one of the Honorary Presidents of the ruling party.
