President Jacob Zuma addresses annual National Teaching Awards ceremony, 25 Mar

President Jacob Zuma will tomorrow, 25 March 2017, address the annual National Teaching Awards ceremony at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

The Awards ceremony honours as well as encourages all the country’s outstanding teachers in their efforts to develop each learner in schools across the country as a productive citizen of a democratic, non-racial and non-sexist South Africa.

This year’s awards ceremony is extra special as it will also celebrate 120 years of Nkosi Sikelel’i Africa national anthem. The first stanza was composed by Mr Enock Sontonga in 1897.
