President Jacob Zuma arrives in Luanda for the Extraordinary Summit of the ICGLR

His Excellency President Jacob Zuma has tonight, 17 May 2015, arrived in Luanda, in the Republic of Angola for the Extraordinary Summit of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) which is scheduled to take place on Monday, 18 May 2015 in Luanda.

President Zuma attends the Extraordinary Summit at the invitation of his Angolan counterpart His Excellency Eduardo Dos Santos who serves as the Chairperson of the ICGLR. South Africa has an observer status at the ICGLR.

The extraordinary summit is expected to consider the prevailing security situation in the Great Lakes Region, particularly the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic and the Republic of South Sudan.

President Zuma is accompanied by Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.
