Premier Mahumapelo’s villages, townships and small dorpies visits commence 

Premier Supra Mahumapelo of the North West Province will on Tuesday, 21 February 2017, start his year-long programme to personally visit the province’s 759 villages, townships and small dorpies (VTSD) areas.

The first visit will be undertaken in Madibeng Local Municipality, where the Premier will visit some of the completed community projects, before interacting with members of the community in the local municipality’s 10 wards.

Aimed at affording the Premier an opportunity to assess the extent to which services have been rendered and the impact thereof, the Premier who will be accompanied by Local and District Mayors and the traditional leadership, will also use these visits to identify existing opportunities for entrepreneurship development in these areas.

Amongst the completed projects the Premier and his entourage will visit on Tuesday will be a factory producing bricks from waste material which is owned and run by women, an orphanage built by bricks made out of waste material, Eskom project and Sedibeng Water project.

The Premier’s programme to visit all VTSD areas is not only in support of the province’s five concretes, but also seeks to promote leadership accountability, encourage active engagement with the citizens about their development and the spirit of working together.

The day’s programme will start with a briefing in the morning at the Madibeng Local Municipality in Brits, and members of the media are invited to attend this briefing and cover the Premier’s visit to this Local Municipality
