Premier David Makhura leads Africa Day Street Parade as part of Gauteng Africa Week celebrations, 27 May

Premier Makhura to lead a colourful Africa Day Street Parade

Premier David Makhura will, tomorrow Saturday, 27 May, lead scores of participants in the Afrocentric -Street Jamboree- Parade, to close off the 2017 Gauteng Africa Week celebrations.

The 6.4km parade will start at 09:00 from Barnato Park High school in Yeoville to the local recreation centre.

As part of events to mark Africa Month, the event is meant to celebrate the coming together of Africans as espoused by the African Union.

The event is organised under the theme “A Year of OR Tambo: Building a Better Africa and a Better World”, through partnership between the Gauteng City Region and the African Diaspora Forum.

Taking part are locally based cultural groups from countries including South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and many more.
